Caring for your shipment of wholesale flowers

Sourcing

Do your research before purchasing flowers, is the wholesaler committed to the quality of flowers? make sure you inspect the shipment of wholesale flowers to be of high quality

Sanitation

After receiving the flowers, make sure your buckets, coolers or anything that will come into contact with the flowers are clean and free of any residue from the previous flowers. Previous flower residue from the decay of water will clog the stems, hindering the flow of water in the stem hence shortening the vase life of the flower.
By cleaning them with dish soap and rinse with clean water is enough to remove all the residue also let them dry before adding fresh warm water.

Hydration

Cut the stems at 45 degrees. It is important because it will force open the bottom of the stem and prevent bacteria build up by creating a seal against bubbles, allowing it to absorb more water. Warm water is the best compared to cold water when it comes to hydrating flowers. Warm water moves faster and therefore it promotes the flow of water, forcing the water into flower stems! Cold water moves more slowly and does not get soaked up by the flower at the right speed. Remember to use floral sheers. Scissors can collapse the stems making it difficult for water to get to the flower bud.

Cut the stems every two days to prevent blockage. Remove the bottom leaves and let the last leaf before above the water level due to leaves when they are in the water they release bacteria which will lead to blockage of the stems.

Flower food

For the flowers to open the bud well and stay well upright it needs food to provide energy to it. Flower food also helps in making the flowers to have a longer vase life, fast uptake of water by lowering water PH and also act as a stem unplugger. It recommended to use the recommended dosage of flower food, higher dosage has high toxic therefore reducing the flowers vase life

Storage

Store the flowers in a cold, dark place away from direct sunlight or excessive heat. Flowers should be stored in temperatures between 2 to 24-degree Celsius. Note: the household refrigerator is much colder than the florist cooler thus storing your flowers in the refrigerator will definitely damage your flowers.
